Treasure Chest
Project
Love
is sharing your heart with a child.™
The
“I’M A KOOL KID”™ Foundation is a group of volunteers committed
to improving the lives of children with cancer and other
life-threatening illnesses.
Inspired by Oprah Winfrey's Angel Network in August 1998, as a
non-profit organization, the foundation provides hospitalized children
the opportunity to receive “treasured gifts” in a very special and
unique way.
“I’M
A KOOL KID”™ treasure chests, located at several children’s
hospitals, are filled with an assortment of gifts donated by monthly
sponsors. Stuffed animals, puzzles, coloring books and crayons, reading
books, children’s blankets and hats, baby dolls, crib toys and craft
activities are examples of “treasures” the children, infants to 18
years old, enjoy. These “treasures” provide comfort for the children
while in the hospital and are taken home to enjoy during their recovery.
A trip
to the treasure chest before or after surgery, while receiving
chemotherapy treatments or after a painful procedure is exactly what
these children need to help brighten their day. Thanks to the tremendous
local and national support, gifts are provided year round and not just
during the holiday season.
The
“I’M A KOOL KID”™ treasure chest provides a wonderful
opportunity for local businesses, schools, and churches to see first
hand how much their donated gifts are needed and enjoyed by these
“kool kids”!!!
Our
foundation is proud to help these children and their families because miracles
happen when you share your heart with a child.
